Teachers are born, not made. It's in their DNA to nurture others. They often give without expecting to receive. So we jumped at the opportunity to bring a little holiday cheer to the teachers at Oakpark Elementary. Thank you for your dedication to instructing our future leaders.

I was invited to speak at the Black Male Initiative (BMI) meeting at McNeese State University. Sometimes, when you have young, engaged men, you need to sit down and talk to them instead of standing and talking at them.
C2C was able to donate Casio Advance System Calculators to three SW LA high schools. We are always seeking to aid by building the bridge between resources and community needs.

To be honest, we are all one catastrophic event away from being in need. Today, C2C was able to help a few families who suffered such events.

This young lady lost her possessions in a house fire. Fortunately, no one was injured. Her parents said that out of everything lost, she misses her books the most.
C2C responded and provided her with children's books.

It was brought to our attention that a family needed a helping hand. Sometimes, people in the most need are the least likely to ask for help. So, we did an old-school drive-by. - Team C2C
Commitment to Change would like to recognize Ms. Pearl Cole, Executive Director of Abraham's Tent, as our very first recipient of the Dr. Rose Duhon-Sells Community Service Award.
There is not enough space to list all of her accolades, but I think most of SW LA already knows.
Congratulations, Ms. Pearl.

Project Uplift
The Commitment to Change entered into a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with the Executive Director of Ward 3 Recreation Department. The MOU was to provide educational and informative lectures to senior seniors in the community located in all the Ward 3 recreation centers. The lecture series was conducted by subject matter experts and was intended to address the overall wellbeing of the elderly by providing resources, social skills, personal safety, volunteer opportunities, health and wellness seminars, educational enhancement, and financial literacy.
Thank you to our volunteer instructors.

Commitment to Change (C2C) partnered with Chase Financial Services to provide a financial literacy class to students at LaGrange High School. The students learned about the importance of financial planning, credit, debt, saving, and spending wisely. Thanks to Alexius Marie Williams, Vice President, Community Manager, for sharing her expertise. We would also like to thank Michelle Daniel Evans, graduation coach, for the invite.
Mommy Bags
C2C received a grant from the Calcasieu Parish Police Jury to provide necessities for taking care of the home to low-income households, such as detergent, disinfectants, oral care products, and liquid cleansers. Each bag also contained educational, financial, and health pamphlets from local businesses and organizations.
Blanket Donations
C2C donated throw blankets to the local dialysis center. We heard they patients often become cold while under going dialysis. We take pride in bridging the gap between resources and the community.
Stronger Together
C2C was out early today, contributing to our community. We dropped off backpacks and school supplies at Oak Park and J.J. Johnson Elementary Schools.
"Not Christmas yet, but we are out here making deliveries none the less. These are baby clothes going to hard-working single mothers trying to make ends meet. C2C, bridging the gap between resources and the community."
C2C is proud to partner with the Calcasieu Public Library to provide novels, books, and magazines free of charge to our community. Today we were honored to provide books to Pryce Recreation Center for their senior club.
